New Love
I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only knitter in the universe that oohing and aaahing over Amy Butler's fabric. Yesterday, I went over to Thimble Creek . Initially, I was just thinking to pick up the swing bag pattern that I've been eyeing for awhile. Before I stepped into the store, I have sworn to myself not to let fabric fever spread in my vains the way fiber has.

....and guess what? I ended up buying six different fabric. Yes, I'm officially hooked. Look at all these fabulous fabrics. How can I pass it up!

After I spent a good portion of my money on fabrics. Then I realised there was a yarn store just few steps away from the quilt shop....of course I had to go in and check it out. Yep! that's right, more yarn...I walked out the store with a skein of Malabrigo and some Cotton Fleece. I swear this Malabrigo stuff is so so gorgeous, incredibly soft and the color is luscious. I bought Geranio, the only skein left in the bin. Love this color.

I'm working on a skinny herringbone scarf right now. Cast on the scarf last night and just loved the way the yarn looked. I've been looking at this (cactus flower), this (damask rose) and this (mango). By the way, have anyone try to knit with their lace pure wool before? I'm drooling. I really want this (Verdeazul). Malabrigo is definitely my favourite yarn of the month.

Yummy, the herringbone scarf looks nice. The colour looks so fresh.
OMG, I think the sewing bug has hit blogland. I've just finished the Amy nappy bag and your now the 3rd knit blog today that has either finished an Amy bag or is planning too. Love the fabric choices by the way, I wish we had the same choices here in oz. Unfortunately there is not much to choose from and it cost a bomb to have it delivered from the States. I've just order some Amy from Cia's palette and plan to make either the swing or covington and another nappy bag. The scarf is looking good, I've got some geranio and damask rose in the stash. I think I'm going to use the geranio for a clap. I love that stuff so soft.
oooo, so gorgeous! i love amy's fabric. i may have to tackle one of her bags, too!! let me know if it is hard to follow her instructions!
*jealous*
I want those too!! I'm having some fabric fetish lately, and my sewing machine just got here!
Yumm...Malabrigo, been trying to get my hand on some of those. Oh, you lucky girl!
That swing bag is going to be great. And all those lovely fabrics you've pick up? Yum! You're herringbone scarf looks really cool too.
that bag looks gorgeous and so does your new fabric. will definitely have to hit up thimble creek the next time i go up to visit my parents. and i love the malabrigo. i have a skein of their lace yarn but haven't knit it up yet. i am sure anything you made out of it would rock!
Love the fabrics you chose, do you have something in mind to make or are you starting a fabric stash:)
Malabrigo sounds so wonderful, I need to get my hands on some.
My big sister made me a swing bag out out of some yummy amy butler fabric last year. I love it! I think she made me a mini version though...mine doesn't look as large as the one pictured. Also, she casualed it down a bit by making a big sloppy bow out of ripped strips of coordinating fabric. Can't wait to see your version! Such yummy color choices...
Vanessa,
I knitted the Handpaintedyarn.com lace weight and it's nice. I knitted the Fiber Trends Cocoon Lace Wrap in Lavender and am knitting the Lattice Lace stole in Barbie Rose at the moment (Too bad both ended up being gifted away). It's a single ply yarn. It stands up to frogging. I don't think it's as soft as their merino lace which you can purchase on Ebay. Hope that helps.

Those are some fabulous fabrics! You need to quit tempting me with more hobbies.
Love your scarf! The pattern is neato! I am in love with that yarn right now too. I have another skein in some sort of red/pink color in my stash. Yummee stuff there.
Oooh, I've been drooling over Amy's fabrics for a long time but I need to figure out how to sew first :) I love the ones you bought, very very pretty!
Hi Vanessa
I'm using malabrigo laceweight damask rose for Madli Shawl which I showed you in KL . Do you remember it had a strong vinegar smell? Other than that it knits up beautiful. One can never have enough laceweight yah?

I agree with you, it would be too hard to leave the stores empty-handed. Are you going to make the bag, it's just so pretty! I feel like to owe one too!
BTW, fabrics take a lot space, isn't it? :D Right now, i am thinking that maybe it's not so bad that i don't know how to sew. Thanks for the links of the yarn web and the fabrics too!
The scarf looks awesome. I really like that pattern.
Oh no... Not the fabric bug! Closing eyes don't see any lovely fabric... nope none.
beautiful bag and fabrics. It's very ahrd not to accumulate a fabric stash too, mine is bigger than my yarn! I just played with some Malabrigo at my LYS the other day, it is wonderful and I know I need some too!
Oh such lovely fabrics! My favorite color combos too with the browns, pinks, and greens ;)
Lovely scarf you started too!
Hope you are well!
i've never met a malabrigo i didn't like. i have a skein of it languishing in my stash at the moment. love your idea of the skinny herringbone scarf...hmmm...
