A Better Knitter
Do you ever feel bad for being too obssess about knitting until you neglect your husband or your love ones, your house work, your body ( hardly get your ass out the chair), your pet, your lawn....And all you seems to care is your wip, your yarn and everything else about knitting.
Well, I have no idea what got into me today. Suddenly, I feel like I haven't been doing anything for myself other than knitting. I used to workout a lot. I hit the gym atleats three times a week. I used to care my appearence, what I wear and things that I put on my face. But lately, it seems like just can't find time for all those things. My rear is definitely getting bigger. I can't no longer fit in my favorite jean. I pay less attention to my DH...blah blah blah...So today, I did a bunch of housework to ease the guilt. I cooked a yummy lunch for DH. I even renewed my gym membership. I want to be able to wear my favorite jean again someday. And most importantly be a better knitter. Alrighty, I know you're probably tired of my complaints, lets move onto the latest finished project. Allow me to present cream corset pullover.

Pattern : Interweave Knits Spring 2003
Yarn : 10 balls of Knitpicks Main line in Cream
Needle : 4mm & 4.25mm Addi Turbo circular
Cost for this project: $40
Completed : Summer 2006

Notes about this project...
I knitted the smallest size. Added an extra inch in the waist and at the bottom after the lace edging. Too lazy to knit those cinch straps, so I decided to leave them out entirely.
About the pattern...
Find it a little confusing, especially the stitch pattern chart and the sleeve section. Never like to knit with dpns which the pattern call for the both sleeves. So knitted mine flat but followed the number of stitches decreased and bind off. It came out alright I think. Anyway, it's done and I'm happy. Will I knit this again? Hmmm probably yeah, with a thinner yarn next time.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention my magazine swap arrived on Saturday. Other than mags my pal also send me some loose tea and two balls of very nice bamboo yarn. Thank you so much Tania! I love the magazines and those extra goodies. I haven't try the tea yet but will definitely do so once I get a new tea strainer basket.

tired of your complaints, it's like looking in the mirror..
Having a day off, planning so much to do and run the errands.. instead i end up sitting on the couch/chair balcony/living room and watching tv and knit, look at the stash and think about future projects.. so here i have 8 pieces in process!
Your corset came out gorgeous! I love the color, love the way it sits on you! I printed out the pattern today. COongrats on the completion! I know it feels awesome!
The sweater is absolutely beautiful! Great job!!
I di feel like I've been neglecting a lot of stuff, but it's so damn hot in my apartment I can't move much less cook or clean. So my only choice are to go shopping or sit, swelter and knit!
So beautiful!
Beautiful creamy sweater and lovely dreamy photos. Lately I've been thinking of taking better care of myself too, skincare, dressing, exercise - my friend says that it's called maintenance :)
Sooo....pretty!!
I know what you mean, just spent weekend in my pyjamas knitting whole day.
p.s miss chatting with you, but my stupid internet connection just disappeared all of the sudden.
That's a gorgeous top and it's been on my to-do list for more than a year :) I can definitely identify with how you feel... I've been the same the past 6 months. Everything neglected for the sake of work, the new house, etc. I'm starting to care again, it will take more time and effort but I hope it pays off at the end.
the corset top is gorgeous! wow... i been meaning to make this forever. yours is going to be a great motivation! i know what you mean about knitting. only mine is also with sewing. (you, too, probably!!)
I've been in a summer-long knitting slump too. Am I getting bored with the craft?
I have that pattern in my queue too. I tried it and found it too confusing and ripped it. I think I may give it a try.
I'd love to know how the Main Line wears. Can you let us know at some point in the future?
it's beautiful! i like it without the straps -- it looks more dainty than sporty without them. i think this top was worth ignoring everything else for!
Your sweater is really beautiful. I have long swooned over that pattern. I totally think it is worth ignoring life for awhile. :)
The sweater looks great. It's so delicate in that color - perfect choice.
Also, I know what you mean with the "only knitting" in your life. I struggle with that too. I used to read all the time and now I've let books I want to read stack up. My new favorite - audiobooks!
This gets an "OMG"! That is so pretty. I think I down that pattern a million moons ago... it looks great on you.
Your Corset Pullover looks great! Well done. And I know what you mean about neglecting regular life things. My appartment has a blast area that has slowly radiated from where I always knit. You need a guide and two days provision to get to the center. I need to do some housework too. Don't worry, you're not the only one!
Oh, it's beautiful! You must be in love with it :-)
I hear what your saying about neglecting everything about the knitting, it's hard sometimes to keep a healthy balance when you're passionate about something.
Your sweater looks great!
oh wow, the sweater is just too beautiful :) and I'm so glad you liked everything !
Spectacular sweater! So Victorian and romantic and ruffly!
Beautiful sweater. I like it without the cinchy ties on the side so I think that was a good call. Great job.
P.S. going to the gym always makes me feel better about spending hours sitting knitting at night.
Wow, Vanessa, it is stunning on you!! Awesome!
It looks so pretty and I love the fit on you. I started this sweater once with some DB cathay, but then I got bored and frogged it, it took a long time for that stitch pattern to grab hold in my brain.
I've been working on making room for other things in my life again too, now I only knit at home on certain days, some days are reserved for computer time, lunch hours for reading. It really helps me to do more of all the things I want to do. Can't wait to see your sewing projects come to life, so much pretty fabric!
Fantastic Vanessa! I personally, don't want you to get off your ass and do other things. I'm enjoying watching you knit fabulous projects and seeing the end results. :)
I completely understand what you're saying, really. I felt that way too, and so I try not to get on the computer too much anymore. I used to spend WAY too long reading blogs and surfing yarn sites. I kinda miss it......
Anyway, you did a super job on your corset pullover! It really does look wonderful on you. You have major talent, Girl.
It looks great!
How did you like working with KP Main Line?
That looks awesome! I'm also curious about the yarn...was it nice to work with?
The sweater is simply beautiful. I've been wanting to make that forever, no I really want to cast on!
Vanessa, it is just gorgeous! You make the most lovely well-fit garments!
Your corset is so beautiful. Cream is not a color that I can wear, so I am very jealous ;-)
I am also curious to know how you liked the Main Line. I have some to make a Green Gable, but haven't swatched yet.
Love your creamy corset! Very nice pattern.
I feel like you, I need to take care of myself. My trip is giving me a forced break on knitting. Though, I have to admit that looking at my friends new FOs make my hands itching for knitting! :D
The sweater is beautiful!
Gorgeous sweater. It really suits your figure (which looks lovely, depsite your concerns). ;)
Beautiful sweater and it fits you well. Lots of lucious yarn to knit up---better combine exercise with knitting to save time;)
Gorgeous sweater! It looks absolutely perfect with jeans!
I absolutely adore that sweater!
Ooh la love. I'm totally taking up knitting now.

Wow, that looks amazing on you! I've seen a couple of the corset pullovers lately, but yours has absolutely inspired me to move it up on my to-knit list!
Beautiful job - I have had yarn and this pattern for a while and was still undecided about making it until I saw yours!
