Retail Therapy

I'm back! The computer is fixed but unfortunately the tech guy was unable to restore most of the important datas. So all my work files, pictures and knitting related stuff are gone. On top of that, it needed a new hard drive and some other parts which I don't even know what they call. I'm still pissed at myself for taking things for granted and not being diligent enough in backing up stuff. Needleless to say, it was costly and a giant pain in the back. I never ever want to go through that again. Anyways, you probably thought that I've been knitting a lot while that sucker went down, huh. Actually no. I was not in the mood for anything. Well, I guess that's not entirely true. I did spend some more money to myself feel less guilty.

Once upon a time I was a shoeholic before I became a fiberholic. I love to buy shoes because they will always fit unlike clothing. But sometimes I do feel bad for buying things I don't really need. If I can turn the clock back, I think the amount of money I spent on shoes definitely enough to feed some hungry children. Sign. Retail therapy can be evil.

Alrighty, I got nothing much to report about knitting but I do have some new books and magazines to share. My Amy Butlet In Sticthes is finally here. Yay! I'm so please with this book. There are tons of gorgeous patterns, gorgeous photos..aaah its just so well put together. Definitely a great buy. I still can't believe they are selling it for under $30.

Second up is Sew U by Wendy Mullin. If you like Wendy's simple, modern yet stylish sewing patterns, this is another great book. She gives readers everything you need to know to begin sewing and provides step-by-step instructions. Very well illustrated and written. It also comes with three Simplicity pattterns, under $20 at amazon. The other two are japanese books --"from Quilter's Studio" and "crochet shawls & scarf". Like any japanese book, they are always very well put together and accompany with lots of pretty photographs. Here are some of my favorite sewing items from In Stiches. If you like to see more, Lolly also posted some pictures on her blog.

Isn't this cute? I so want to make this. But with all the projects I have in line, wondering when will I be able to get to this...

:: Wide leg pant ::
Look so comfy and pretty. Apprently this is a pyjamas set. I never look so stylish when I go to bed. Do you?

:: Patchwork laundry bag ::
Too pretty to put any dirty clothes in it. May be I could use it as a gym bag instead.

:: Flower clutch bag ::
I love clutch bag, I don't know why. I have a few in my closet but hardly wear them. Come to think of it, I do carry a lot of junk in bag.

OH YEAH! awesome wedge heels! i've been looking at a pair myself, but i can't bring myself to part with yarn money. i back up files maybe once a month. it feels like a chore to set aside time to do it (husband has to remind me frequently), but if i lost my work stuff i'd be screwed and if i lost my pics i'd cry.

The shoes are so fabulous. It's very difficult for me to find shoes that fit so I don't have as many shoes as I would like. Enjoy your new books, I like books that have beautiful photos too.

Ooo, I'm adding 'Sew U' to my wishlist. Some of those ideas look exactly what I want to do as a beginner in sewing.

My laptop crashed a short while ago and like you, I didn't back up - what a way to learn a lesson! Oh, and those shoes are divine!
