Not So Perfect Socks

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here you go! My first pair of socks are finally done. It was a week of constant knitting after that whiny post. (I'm sorry. Sometimes I just have to bitch!) They turned out okay, I guess. From the picture, you can't hardly spot any of its deformity, but if you look closer there's two tiny holes at the gusset section. I have no clue how I overlooked that part. Anyways, I'm sure I'll get better with time. Most important thing is it's done. Now I can say I'm no longer scare of those tiny needles. DH was happy to finally received his first pair of hand knitted socks. He said it's very comfy and keeps his feet warm. And of course I'm delighted too. Because I know it'll keep him from bitching about my growing stash. Well, atleast for time being before he requests another pair.

Pattern : Top Down Basic Men Sock
Yarn : Knitpicks Simple Stripes
Needle : US2 DPNS
Cost for this project : $5

Here are two more sweater project I had planned for fall - Sorrel from Rowan 40 and the Braided Collar Sweater from Fall IK. But with all those pretty patterns popping up here and there. I'm sure if I want to cast on anymore. So that's me, forever fickle minded. Anyways, maybe you can help. Which one do you like to see?

Hooray for finished socks! They look great. Everybody has trouble with gusset holes...or at least I do!

Oh, and I vote for Sorrel!

The socks look so good, the colours are very nice. Oh, I don't know how I managed to walk out of the lys yesterday after fondling that tapestry yarn for half an hour without buying it! Can't wait to see how the colours look like knit up. I like the Vogue cabled neckline sweater very much, so I hope you're going to knit it too. I'm no help huh?

I vote for the VK gray sweater. It's very pretty. The sorrel is pretty too, but mainly because of the yarn I think...

Congratulations on your first socks, they look perfect to me!
Hard to vote, I like the VK braided sweater and at same time I am curious to see how your tapestry yarn will knit up. Maybe you could start both? ;)

Congrats on the socks! I really like both of your potential projects, but I'm more curious to see the Rowan Tapestry knitted up. Have been lusting after that stuff at the LYS.

Your first pair looks just great! I'm like you, still to start my last season's knits while already lusting after new ones! I would love to see the Tapestry sweater.

Oh, he's going to request another pair! My DH received his first pair of handmade socks a few weeks ago, and now I'm already forced to start his second pair!
Your socks look perfect. Those little gusset holes are a problem for everyone.

They are great socks! As for the small holes in the gusset? As a newbie sock knitter myself (about 3 pairs only) I find that picking up more stitches than called for and then knitting them together to get your required number of stitches - if that makes sense.

I do love that braided coral sweater....but I like the Tapestry yarn....tough call!

(Congrats on your socks - they look REALLY good! Last time my DB requested a pair of socks, I walked into the yarn room, examined the sizable stash, and declared, "We're gonna have to buy some sock yarn then." He officially declared my mind lost.)

Well done. Dont you feel proud to have finished them. I like your new selections to knit up as well, and it seems as though you prefer neutral colors too.

Wow, Vanessa, my warmest congratulations of your first pair, I am still a sock virgin, I just admire! Hey at least you win between the yarn purchases!
And the outline of your projects looks so yummy! Such lovely colors! WHat they write now-grey is the new black. Cannot wait to see the progress!

The socks turned out really great! They look really cozy too.

I love that braided color sweater, when I first saw that it made me drool a bit. It would really look good on you too!
Of course all the things you pick to knit look great.

your socks look great! How ironic that I am using the same yarn just different color, knitting I think the same pattern or it looks like it and working on my 1st sock right now! I'm in a mad rush to get to the heel before my sock class tomorrow night.

You've inspired me since I was sliding down into the "what the heck was I thinking" well.
