Still No Knitting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I've been obssesing over this jacket all weekend. I flipped through many knitting magazines, stitch pattern books hoping to find something similar but no luck. Want to know how much it cost ? A whomping $850. Yup no kiddin!...that's equivalent to a many many skeins of seasilk, tilli tomas, ksh, malabrigo, cashmere....Anyways, I was going to post about my wips but I know you all can wait. I can't believe I'm losing sleep over this.

That is a stunning jacket. It looks like a herringbone almost wool....

It makes me think of the swing jacket in Knitting Nature, only more traditional. ($850 is a ton of Karabella Breeze!)

Don't know how close it is but there is a jacket at the location below on page 2 that looks kinda similar. I was just eyeing it myself.

I love that jacket too. I'm going to make it, but I'm sewing it from Simplicity 4082... perfect replica!

I was just going to mention Phildar's latest mag but Mozilla beat me to it. There is a (very) similar version there. Good luck!

And $850?! Wow, that's way too much.

Erica's recommendation is perfect! That coat is lovely, but wow. That's definitely a lot of yarn lost. eeeh.. There's also Simplicity 6619 that Erica had also mentioned on her blog.

I was going to suggest the one in the new phildar winter magazine as well. Knit'n Thyme is suppose to be getting it in this friday with the English Translation.

Though do be careful that the pattern matches the picture. The sweater I just started from the spring magazine is way of the photo.

i love that silhouette, too. i'm actually thinking about designing something in that silo in my sweater design class. it's very retro and modern at the same time.

The tweed jacket from Knitscene:

Has a similar stitch pattern. Maybe you can try that?

What a great jacket. I've been on the hunt for a classic, quality swing coat that won't break my bank. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one :)

Well, isn't it a surprise, great knitting minds think alike, I just got my order of Ella Rae Shibu, tweedy silk and viscose blend and I have this idee fix of a jacket haunting me... also I was considering Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool which has good texture for such a type of jacket. I spent couple hours of sleeplessness over it as well.
WIP... they are hating me probably as i keep opening boxes and knitting the back of my orangina...
Great ambition and so little time.
